PokerRoom.com Poker Review |

PokerRoom.com Poker ReviewNOT RECOMMENDEDWe no longer reccommend PokerRoom.com as a place to play online poker. This is due to their notorious Gauranteed Tournament that wasn't a gaurantee. The story grew quickly and most people seem to know about it. If you are one of the few players who didn't hear about it, then here it is in brief. In the lead up to Christmas 2006, PokerRoom.com ran a tournament with a gauranteed prize pool of $19,000 PLUS merchandise prizes for the final table finishers. The merchandise prize for first place, for example, was a HDTV worth $2,000. Many players signed up and paid their entry - $20 + $2 - and went on to play. One even won, as you would imagine. The winner received over $3,000 and this was deposited into their player account, with appropriate payments made to the 'in the money' finishers. The next day, PokerRoom.com realised that they had made a mistake - the tournament shouldn't have been gauranteed. So they took the money prizes back. From the players accounts. Just like that. The 'winners' began to post on the PokerRoom.com forum, Pokah!, and the issue soon grew and grew. To make a long and sad story short, PokerRoom.com disgraced themselves by their disgusting behavious. When the forum thread got out of hand, they responded by removing a moderators privileges, they un-stickied the thread hoping it would go away, they denied everything, they lied. Eventually, after lots and lots of bad publicity, they relented and paid the winners their due. But it was too late. How would they have responded if the story had not gotten so big? Basically, if this is how they treat their players, then forget them. If you want more info on this subject, check out the Pokah! forum, (you may have to search) or the 2+2 forum. Basically, there are enough good poker rooms on the internet. You should be able to find one that can treat their players properly. We can no longer reccommend PokerRoom.com If you want a good room that uses the same software, then we reccommend HollywoodPoker.com. This is a small room in the OnGame network, with good promotions (that they stick to!) and some good tournaments and bonuses. ![]() No player should tolerate the treatment that PokerRoom.com dished out to their players. We have left our original review up here for the moment. Though we cringe to read it, and we'll either rewrite it or take it down in the near future. Pokerroom Poker ReviewPokerRoom.com is one of the oldest and most respected online poker rooms. With a tradition of innovation in software design
and functionality second to none, PokerRoom.com is the world's leading no-download poker room,
boasting the ability to play immediately in your browser - which is heaven sent for mac users and other
players who can't download software. PokerRoom.com's software is unique and the design is sleek and very functional. Both the download and no download versions have excellent graphics with advanced functionality, such as great statistical analysis, and a unique hourly win/loss rate and Big Bets won or lost. Traditionally, PokerRoom.com was home to a better standard of player, but with their increased popularity over the last year, and the resulting increase in traffic and new player sign-ups the competition has become quite 'soft'. Like most online poker rooms, the traffic at PokerRoom.com is concentrated to the texas holdem cash games and texas holdem tournaments. As a leader in innovation, PokerRoom.com also allows their players to download poker games for mobile phones, called "Mobile poker". The software also allows players the option to create private tournaments where you can choose your own buy-in, starting time etc. You can create Team Tournaments where teams consisting of five to 10 players are created by a "Team Manager" and can participate in leagues. Aside from their fairly good sign-up bonus (more on that below) PokerRoom.com offers many other promotions with as many as twelve running simultaniously. With so many promotions, you would need to check the PokerRoom.com website for all the details, but briefly, their current promotions include a loyalty bonus where you get cash back for hands played, a cash prize for the daily top points earners, WPT qualifing tournaments, player points free-roll tournaments, royal flush bonus, other guaranteed tournaments and many others. One of the biggest current promotions is the opportunity to become a paid poker pro for one year with a package that is worth up to $240,000! Pokerroom Poker Bonus Review$100 maximum at 20% match. |
